This week we will be learing about the element of "Line"! The artists we will be studying is a man named Keith Haring. Keith Haring's work is displayed through murals all over the country and has been used in advertising as well. He started out doing public works of art around New York City using chalk. The "Radiant Baby" was a symbol he used most often meaning life.
"His bold lines, vivid colors, and active figures carry strong messages of life and unity"- wikipedia.com
We will be studing his use of lines and color. The students will draw a picture using the book, "Ten" by Keith Haring as their inspiration. Each child will be given a different number to combine into out class book of numbers. Each student will need to draw as many figures as the number calls for, draw them in pencil, trace the pencil lines with a thick marker, color the figures a bold bright color and give the figures expressive lines of movement.
Once the project is through, each students peice will be put into their portfoilio and a copy will be made for the classroom book.
